Santiago Pina (Spain, 1998) is a contemporary artist whose work explores the perceptual conditions of the present. His practice does not seek to articulate explicit narratives or moral positions, but rather to document the contemporary experience: a world defined by hyperconnection, information saturation, and fragmented attention.
Working primarily in oil on large-scale canvases, Pina constructs surfaces where interrupted figures, dissolving forms, and layered visual structures coexist.
After completing his training at the Barcelona Academy of Art (2019–2021), where he specialized in academic drawing, oil painting, and figurative composition, Pina has developed a distinctive pictorial language in which classical rigor merges with a contemporary gaze, attuned to the complexities of the present. Technical precision in his work is combined with a subtle narrative, where silences, suspended gestures, and the intensity of light evoke inner states and existential passages.
In 2025, he presents his solo exhibition at the MEAM (European Museum of Modern Art) in Barcelona, in collaboration with the international editorial The Guide Artists. This exhibition marks a significant milestone in his career, consolidating his position within the European figurative art scene and placing his work in dialogue with the emerging new realism.
Additionally, Pina has recently published his first book, a carefully curated edition by The Guide Artists Publishing that brings together a selection of artworks, studies, and personal writings on his creative process. This volume offers a deep insight into his artistic universe and reveals the artist’s commitment to painting as a form of thought and expression.
In his currently developing series, “Cognitive Divergence”, investigates how consciousness divides and recomposes itself in order to navigate the excesses of the contemporary moment. His work inhabits the boundary between observation and disintegration, between the digital world and the physical act of painting.
